Our History

Kstar blossomed with the real passion to teach young children. It all began when it came to Karen's attention that there weren't many young children dancing in the hip hop community, compared to when she was growing up. An opportunity came to her hands when there was a small hip hop dance comp held for all ages back in 2003. Three girls aged 6years old we're chosen to compete. After their win there was enormous feed back about the little one's ability level. Karen was then inspired to teach more children and share the adrenaline rush experienced when performing. From three students there we're nine students. Older kids wanted to be involved and it was obvious that the 1 class had to be divided into 2. Several months later it grew to 70+ students and there were 5 different classes! The name 'KSTAR' was named by a student. The name was to be changed several times but many provoked to keep the name due to overwhelming response about the classes. After 1 year of teaching alone, Karen knew that her students needed more. Thus, new teachers and more performances came. Currently, Kstar have 5 teachers, have more than 100 students and have many titles behind them.



Even though this is a small training base Kstar continue to bring out the very best in each of their students, via performance and 100% encournagement!

Kstar has proved that there are no limitations with age or ability. - (Kstar won top 5 competing against over 15 crews from all around Australia including NZ) 5 year olds can bust and shake just as good as a 20 year old!
